Rob Logan, Chief Executive Officer
Rob is a seasoned executive with over 20 years of commercial and basic research expertise in the fields of media technologies, consumer electronics, enterprise computing, and human performance. Prior to joining ContentGuard, Logan spent 13 years at Thomson in a variety of executive roles in areas including intellectual property, digital components, new media, strategy, design, and consumer electronics. Prior to his career at Thomson, Logan was a scientist at IBM focused on large system optimization. Logan holds a BA, MA, and PhD in cognitive psychology from the University of Binghamton.
Karsten Voermann, Chief Operating Officer
Karsten has a rich background in finance, strategic consulting, and business development. Prior to joining ContentGuard, Karsten Voermann led finance and administration at CPA2Biz, Inc., and held financial, corporate development, media technology and strategy focused positions at Microsoft Inc., Bain & Company and McKinsey & Company. At Microsoft, Voermann was focused on strategy formulation and execution in the media and consumer device arenas. At Bain and McKinsey, he was responsible for engagements in media distribution and technology infrastructure. Voermann holds a BA from the University of Western Ontario and a MBA, with distinction, from the Harvard Business School. He is also a CPA.
Todd Schmidt, Senior Vice President of Business Development and Licensing
Todd has over 21 years of business development experience in the fields of new media technologies, entertainment, consumer durables and packaged goods. Over the span of his career he has worked at Procter & Gamble, Warner Bros. and Dyson Inc. He has a successful track record of negotiating multi-million dollar business deals with C-level executives at companies such as Microsoft, LG Electronics, AOL and Real Networks to mention a few. Schmidt received his BA from Ohio Wesleyan University and his MBA (Finance) from DePaul University.
Eddie Chen, Vice President of Technology and Development
Eddie joined ContentGuard when it was spun-out from Xerox Corporation and is a seasoned technology executive. During his 15 year career at Xerox, Eddie led research and multi-national, inter-company software development projects and was a key manager and engineering contributor to many innovative projects such as GlobalView (the first GUI based integrated office application), DocuTech Product Publishing (a product that reinvented the printing industry), and PrintXchange (a Common Server Platform). Prior to Xerox, Eddie worked in engineering, marketing, and manufacturing capacities for EPSON, Mattel, and Texas Instruments. Eddie holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University and a M.S. in Computer Engineering from University of California, Santa Barbara.
Kerry P. Miller, Esq., Vice President of Intellectual Property and General Counsel
Kerry has an extensive background in IP licensing and litigation. Prior to ContentGuard Miller was VP of Intellectual Property at EchoStar where he was responsible for patent prosecution, litigation and licensing activities, as well as anti-piracy issues and standards-setting. Before EchoStar, Miller was Senior Patent Counsel at Thomson responsible for patent litigation and spent several years prior to that in private law practice in New York City. Miller received his BS in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from MIT and a law degree from Albany Law School.
James Baker, Vice President of Strategic Development
Baker is responsible for corporate development, new segment and asset growth, and market relations. He has broad experience in corporate strategy, business development, and trademark/brand licensing activities and has held senior consulting and management roles focused on corporate and business development in the technology, telecommunications, and consumer products industries. Prior to joining ContentGuard, Baker started his own consulting practice specializing in business growth strategies, business plan development, financial modeling, and business and corporate development. He also ran corporate and business development and held product management positions at CPA2Biz, and was a consultant at Bain & Company where he worked in the technology and telecommunications, consumer products, and private equity practices. Baker holds a BA from Harvard University, and an MPhil and PhD in International Relations from the University of Cambridge (UK).
